Facilitation

My purpose as a facilitator is to work with groups and teams to help increase their effectiveness.

This work has involved scenarios including decision-making, negotiations and working to improve difficult relationships.

In my experience, meetings are increasingly a source of frustration within organisations (too long, irrelevant, unclear outcomes…) so I also work with teams to demonstrate and model how they can effectively chair and facilitate meetings.

I work hard to create a Thinking Environment® when working with teams.  If you would like to learn more about Thinking Environments, I would highly recommend reading Nancy Kline’s Time to Think.

Myers-Briggs

The success of much of the work I do with individuals and teams rests on raising levels of self-awareness. Using Myers-Briggs (or MBTI)  is one of the best ways of helping to achieve this through completion of a questionnaire and structured feedback sessions.

The Myers-Briggs instrument is based on the personality theories of Carl Jung, the questionnaire was first published only after 20 years of research and the instrument is now used extensively by major national and multi-national organisations across business sectors and cultures.

The work with Melissa has had a very positive effect in meetings which have become more structured and effective. Trust and respect have improved between individuals and as a result the working environment has improved for all concerned.
